Customs broker such as Al Sharqi is a company licensed by Dubai, Sharjah, Ajman, Abu Dhabi, & Ras Al Khaimah Customs and Trade to legally represent importers or exporter in their dealings with Customs.
Brokers must have expertise in the entry procedures, admissibility requirements, classification, valuation, and the rates of duty and applicable taxes and fees for imported merchandise.

The broker can also provide Trade Consultants to handle more serious issues such as Trademark, ICR, and other Trade issues.

The customs value for goods imported to Dubai is based on CIF (Cost, Insurance, Freight) according to Common Customs Law of GCC States and its rule of implementation and explanatory notes thereof value of the exported goods is that indicated in the customs declaration plus the cost until arrival of the goods to port of destination in GCC States.
The CIF includes the cost of transport, insurance and relevant charges up to the place of importation.​

Unless exempt, all commercial goods imported into the UAE. are subject to customs duty and taxes. In order to determine the applicable duties and taxes payable, you must first determine their tariff classification. In addition to customs duty and taxes, some goods are also assessed in relation to other taxes, including excise duty, excise tax, countervailing duties and anti-dumping duties.

First time or infrequent importers are strongly encouraged to use the services of a licensed customs broker and recommended to setup an importer code.
Licensed customs brokers can complete the Import Declaration for them and submit it to the customs electronically through the Customs system. They can also help you with other tasks you need to do when importing goods.
